kwaZulu Natal

This part of the country is often referred to as the Natal midlands and is one of the country's up and coming hunting areas. With a wide variety of plainsgame and diversity of terrain, from the Drakensberg Mountains (South Africa's highest mountain range) to spectacular canyons. This area now brags the latest South African record for Greater Kudu. Historically, the area is well remembered for the Anglo/Boer and Anglo/Zulu wars. These battlefields and sites are now a major tourist attraction to the region. Many of the decedents of these war veterans and pioneering families own the land where we are likely to hunt. The accommodation varies from hunting camps, guest cottages to refurbished pioneer homesteads.

These new hunting areas are producing some of the country's best trophies. The new South African record Kudu was taken in this region.

Nearest airport:
Durban - Approximately 2 hours drive from the hunting camps.

Accommodation:
Refurbished ranch style homesteads, guesthouses and hunting camps.

Temperature:
The winter nights can be cold (32 - 45 F / 0 - 7 C) when staying in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains but much warmer (45 - 55 F / 7 - 12C) when hunting in the Weenen area. Day temperatures range from cool to warm (55 - 80 F / 12 - 27 C). Occasional frost and even snowfalls may occur.
